President Biden appeared to freeze onstage at the end of a star-studded campaign fundraiser in Los Angeles on Saturday night and had to be led out by Barack Obama.
The awkward moment came after Biden and his predecessor sat down for a 45-minute interview with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.
As the men rose to their feet to applaud, Biden’s eyes appeared to be fixed on the crowd for a full 10 seconds before former President Barack Obama grabbed him by the wrist and escorted him off the stage.
The incident came after Biden was caught on camera in a series of moments appearing confused and unsure of where he was, including when he appeared to wander off during a parachute demonstration at the G7 summit in Puglia, Italy.
At that point, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stepped in, gently taking Biden’s hand and directing him back to the group photo with other world leaders.
The Biden campaign raised more than $30 million at the event, which was attended by Hollywood celebrities including George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Barbra Streisand.
