Biden appears to read script instructions out loud in latest teleprompter gaffe: ‘Four more years, pause’

President Biden appeared to suffer a gaffe during a speech at a trade union conference in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.

Biden, who was reading from a teleprompter, appeared to incorporate scripted instructions into his speech, resulting in an awkward line of applause. The moment came during a portion of his remarks plucked straight from his campaign stump speech.

“I see an America that protects democracy, not undermines it. An America that protects freedom, not takes it away,” Biden said. “I think the economy will grow significantly from the bottom up, and if the wealthy pay their fair share, we will be able to reduce the federal deficit and increase the economic population while getting things like childcare and paid leave.

“Imagine what I can do next. Just give me four more years,” he said, then laughed.

Biden’s teleprompter mix-up is just the latest in a long list of presidential gaffes. Just Tuesday, he fed conservative commentators by falsely saying he and his party were “untrustworthy.”

At the time, Biden was speaking at a campaign rally in Florida, specifically focusing on abortion. In criticizing President Trump’s stance on abortion, he turned the tables.

“I don’t know why we’re surprised by Trump. How many times does he have to prove that we can’t be trusted?” Biden said.
