Biden approval rating on handling immigration reaches all-time low: Poll

A new poll finds President Biden's approval rating on his handling of immigration has hit an all-time low.

Overall, 68% of Americans disapprove of Biden's handling of the border crisis, according to a new poll.

Congressional Republicans also had low approval ratings for their handling of the border issue, and the results come after House Republicans vowed to focus on border policy early in the new year. The poll found that 35% of Americans approve of Republican lawmakers' handling of the border issue, while 65% disapprove.

The poll also found that 45% of Americans see the border situation as a crisis, and an additional 30% see the border situation as a serious problem. Sixty-three percent said it should be tougher for immigrants to cross the border into the United States, but only 16% said it should be made easier.

Americans' sentiment toward immigrants has finally become more negative, according to a new poll. Nearly 50% said migrants crossing the border would make American society “worse in the long run,” while 22% said it would make it better.

Additionally, 57% said they opposed sending immigrants to northern states. But 53% of Republicans approved of the action, as Republican-led states continue to send immigrants to Democratic-led cities in the north.

The poll was conducted among 2,157 adults from January 3 to January 5, and had a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
