On Friday’s episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said it’s “absurd” to claim that President Joe Biden can actually provide strong leadership.
After Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who appeared in person, argued that Biden has a good record as president and his plans for the future are superior, especially compared to those of former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for 2024 presidential nominee, Maher said, “But the debate isn’t really about that. I think most Democrats think Biden’s done a good job. The debate is whether he can win. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told him this week that she doesn’t think he can win. She’s pretty smart. … Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), I said this a week ago, when the dam breaks, everybody’s going to come on board. How is he going to win?” [survive]”And now he has COVID, is he really going to run for president from a hospital bed?”
Maher then mimicked a person slumped in a hospital bed and said, “America needs strong leadership, and I…”
Then he got up and said, “That’s just ridiculous, Pete.”
Buttigieg countered that Biden’s symptoms are mild and he wants to return to campaigning soon.
