“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. This kind of violence has no place in America. We must come together as one nation to condemn it,” the president said.

Prior to Biden’s inauguration, former President Obama issued a statement saying, “There is no place for political violence in our democracy.”

“While we still don’t know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump was not seriously injured and should take this opportunity to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in politics,” he said. “Michelle and I wish him a speedy recovery.”
