Biden campaign believes Obama is orchestrating calls for him to get out: MSNBC

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski speculated Thursday morning that former President Obama is trying to destroy President Biden’s reelection campaign, adding that the campaign believes this too.

The MSNBC morning show co-host pointed to Obama’s “influence” and suggested the former president was behind a recent New York Times op-ed by actor George Clooney urging Biden to give up reelection.

“This was not George Clooney,” Brzezinski said.

After some back and forth, Scarborough asked, “Who do you think it is? He doesn’t melt when you say his name. It’s not Voldemort. You think Barack Obama made him do this?”

The co-host answered in the affirmative, and Scarborough agreed.

“One thing I need to emphasize here so viewers understand what’s going on behind the scenes is that the Biden campaign and many Democratic officials believe that Barack Obama is orchestrating this behind the scenes,” Scarborough said. “And if Joe Biden believes that, it’s not going to get him out of the race anytime soon.”

Scarborough also blasted former Obama adviser David Axelrod and the hosts of the podcast “Pod Save America,” saying their criticism in particular would likely strengthen Biden’s resolve to continue in the campaign.

“Every time David Axelrod attacks him, Joe Biden revs himself up the next day. Every time the ‘Podbros’ say something mean about Joe Biden — and they’ve said mean things about Joe Biden many times before the debate and after the debate — every time they do that, he gets even meaner,” he said.

Axelrod and “Pod Save America” co-host and former Obama staffer Jon Favreau both appeared on CNN on Wednesday to talk about how “devastating” Clooney’s op-ed was for President Biden.

Scarborough later declared, “Joe Biden’s path to exit gracefully does not go through Obama or Clinton. It cannot be… Joe Biden is deeply resentful not only at the way he was treated by Obama’s staff, but also at the way he was pushed aside in favor of Hillary Clinton.”

The Biden campaign did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
