Biden Campaign Cheers Trump Verdict

The Biden campaign is welcoming the guilty verdict handed down today in New York in a business records case against former President Donald Trump whose legitimacy has been widely questioned by legal scholars and experts.

“Today in New York we saw that no one is above the law,” the Biden campaign said in a statement after Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records in a Manhattan black market.

“Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed that he could break the law for his own personal gain and with impunity,” the statement said sarcastically.

The sarcastic comment came as Trump asserted that all “election interference” emanates from Washington DC.

“This is election interference. It’s all coming from Washington. They have representatives. [representiaves] “I think everyone here knows that,” he told media members on May 10.

“This is to damage a political opponent of the evil Joe Biden, who happens to be me. We are way ahead in the polls and the American people know it’s a fraud,” he added.

Notably, the lead prosecutor on the case, Michael Colangelo, worked in the Biden Justice Department before New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg brought him into his office. Washington Examiner reportHe previously worked for New York Attorney General Letitia James, where he handled the civil fraud case against Trump.

according to Examiner’s Ashley Oliver:

Mr. Bragg didn’t hire Mr. Colangelo for his experience as a white-collar prosecutor — which he lacked when he joined Mr. Bragg’s office — but rather for his “extensive knowledge” of the Trump Organization, one of the people said. The New York Times report The report is expected to be released at the end of 2022, coming at the same time that Bragg is seeking to ramp up his prosecution efforts against Trump.

Notably, legal expert Jonathan Turley slammed the lawsuit as “absurd,” while Fox News analyst and former lawyer Greg Jarrett argued that the case “bears no resemblance” to the “cherished constitutional promise” of the right to a fair trial.

The Biden campaign also relied heavily on fear-mongering in its statements about the unprecedented conviction of a former U.S. president and presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

For example, Biden claimed that Trump had “vowed to be a dictator ‘from day one,’ and was waging a mad campaign of revenge and retaliation,” though Trump has made it clear that he is not seeking “revenge” in a second term.

“I don’t care about revenge. They always use the word ‘revenge,’ but will there be revenge?” Trump said. Said “My revenge will be successful,” he said at a town hall event with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham in February.

Moreover, in his “dictator” comments, which his campaign noted, Trump was explicitly referring to executive orders he would issue on the border and energy sector on his first day if elected.

“I said, we love that guy, we’re going to do that. He says, ‘You’re not going to be a dictator, are you?’ And I said, ‘No, no, no, not on the first day. We’re going to close the border and we’re going to drill, drill, drill. And after that, I’m not going to be a dictator,'” Trump said.
