Biden campaign drops new ad targeting Trump over debate comments

President Biden’s campaign released a new ad on Friday targeting comments made by former President Trump during the first presidential debate.

“Donald Trump doesn’t care about you” Posted by Biden It was posted along with the video on social media platform X.

The 29-second ad featured footage of Trump at the debate accompanied by text explaining why the campaign sees the former president as a danger to democracy.

The video begins with a black screen and the words, “Donald Trump doesn’t care about veterans,” before cutting to footage of the Republican front-runner uttering the words “idiots and losers,” a hot topic in Biden’s campaign but one that former President Biden disputes.

“Donald Trump doesn’t care about our democracy,” the video says, before cutting to footage of Trump saying during the debate that the United States is respected “around the world” as rioters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

The ad then goes on to claim that Trump “doesn’t care about black families” and cuts to the former president saying “they’re taking black jobs”, comments that drew criticism from black Americans.

The campaign also argues that Trump cares little about reproductive rights, releasing a clip of him on Thursday saying that he appointed three “fantastic” justices to the Supreme Court, but “they happen to vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, which is great.”

“Donald Trump only cares about himself,” the ad concludes, “and if he wins, he’ll only benefit himself, because he doesn’t care about you.”

As Democrats panic, the Biden campaign appears to be engaged in damage control following his poor performance in the presidential debate. Since the debate, there have been growing calls for Biden to step aside and give someone else a chance to face Trump in November.

Biden acknowledged the misstep at a campaign rally on Friday.

“Young or old, this is all I know. I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. I know how to do this job,” he said, adding, “I wouldn’t be running again if I didn’t truly believe I could do the job, because frankly, the stakes are too high.”

“Donald Trump is a real threat to this country,” he added.
