President Biden's chief deputy campaign manager insisted the 2024 election is “not about age” when asked about the commander-in-chief's mental acuity.
“There's a simple formula when it comes to the age of a president, and that's the result,” Quentin Fawkes told ABC's “This Week” host Martha Raddatz. “And you know, age equals wisdom, and age equals results and experience. And President Biden, because of his age, is able to sit at the table and bring people together from both sides of the aisle and get results for the American people.” Whether it's a historic bipartisan infrastructure bill, whether it's bringing people to the table to create jobs or ensuring that inflation is contained, the president has delivered results. Our best answer to this. is about continuing to communicate about the things that people care about, and Americans care about.”
“This election is not about age,” Fulks added. “This election is about freedom and democracy, and the fact that the Democratic Party under President Biden believes that people deserve more freedom, not less. Republicans want to roll it back and strip it away.”
A new ABC News/Ipso poll conducted Jan. 4-8 found that 69% of respondents did not believe Biden had the mental fortitude to become president, and in May 2020 This was an increase from just 43% of the total.
