Biden campaign raised $85M in May, entered June with $212M on hand

The Biden campaign raised $85 million in May and started June with $212 million on hand — a strong war chest, even though the Trump campaign significantly outraised the Biden campaign last month.

The Biden campaign has touted support from grassroots donors, noting that May was the second-strongest month of support ever from grassroots donors after March.

The campaign noted that May saw it add 3 million email subscribers and was its best month in recurring donor numbers to date, and that May also saw donations from individuals in all 50 states.

“Our strong and consistent fundraising program saw millions of increases in May, a clear sign that enthusiasm for the President and Vice President continues to grow strongly each month,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement.

“The funds we continue to raise are critical and help the campaign build an operation that is invested in reaching and winning over the voters who will decide this election — as opposed to the PR blitzes and photo ops that Trump is pretending to be a campaign,” she continued. “From person-to-person organizing to a historic paid media campaign, we are working to get the votes we need to win the election in November.”

The Biden campaign’s vast financial resources have allowed it to fund a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign, deploying staff in key battleground states and specifically targeting voter demographics.

While the Trump campaign has yet to release details about how much cash it has on hand, the former president’s campaign raised a staggering $141 million in May along with the Republican National Committee (RNC), thanks in part to a surge in donations after Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts in New York.

The Trump campaign also outran the Biden campaign in April, but was still several million dollars behind in terms of cash on hand.
Biden raised $30 million for his reelection bid last week at a Hollywood event featuring George Clooney, Jimmy Kimmel, Julia Roberts and former President Barack Obama, the largest Democratic fundraising effort of all time, his campaign said.
