Biden Campaign Should Go After Trump as a Convicted Felon

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that President Joe Biden should campaign on former President Trump’s conviction in the New York business records case.

“Should President Biden place more emphasis on the message that Donald Trump is a convicted felon?” guest host Casey Hunt asked.

“I think there’s a time and a place for each argument for a president, and I can understand the president wanting to stay out of the fray and show respect for the jury system on the day of the guilty verdict and in the days after, but I think that’s something the president should lean into going forward,” Schiff said.

He added, “His opponents are convicted felonies and I can imagine that if the situation were reversed, they would be vigorously attacking Joe Biden. They’re making false claims about Joe Biden anyway. So I think not only the president but also the Democrats need to speak out forcefully to the American people.”

Schiff added, “If we want our country to be run properly, we don’t want a convicted criminal using the Oval Office and the federal government to engage in some kind of fraud. I think that’s a compelling argument and one that’s certainly borne out by this verdict.”
