Biden campaign to restart activity following president’s TV interview Monday: report

President Biden’s campaign temporarily suspended political activities after a gunman attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump on Saturday, but is expected to resume activities early this week, according to reports.

The president’s reelection team will be in action again when Biden appears in a television interview with NBC News host Lester Holt on Monday night. Election officials CBS News.

It’s unclear whether the campaign will immediately resume TV advertising.


Biden’s campaign rally, which was suspended after a gunman attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump on Saturday, is set to resume early this week. Reuters

Aides also told CBS News the campaign knows Biden needs to be careful about criticizing Trump after a shooting at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania that nearly claimed Biden’s life.

The campaign immediately suspended all television advertising and other communications following the shooting, which injured two people and killed 50-year-old father of two, Corey Comperatore.

Biden and his allies defended criticism from Trump supporters that the Democrat’s harsh rhetoric about the 2024 Republican presidential nominee sparked Saturday evening’s riot.

“At a time when Americans should be united in condemning this horrific attack, for anyone, particularly a national policy elected official, to politicize this tragedy, spread disinformation and seek to further divide the American people is not only unacceptable, it is an abdication of leadership,” a campaign official told the outlet.

Biden and Holt’s 9 p.m. interview will coincide with the first day of the Republican National Convention.
