Biden campaign: Trump praise for Hitler ‘disgraceful but wholly unsurprising’

President Biden’s campaign has repeatedly criticized former President Donald Trump’s past comments favoring Adolf Hitler, calling them “shameful but not entirely surprising.”

The Biden campaign said a CNN report that cited Trump’s chief of staff John Kelly’s recollection of conversations with Trump “confirms what we knew” about the former president.

“We can’t believe we have to say this, but Hitler did not do ‘good’ things,” the Biden campaign said in an emailed statement.

Kelly, a retired general who served as Trump’s first secretary at the Department of Homeland Security before moving to the White House, interviewed CNN’s Jim Sciutto for his book. He told Schutt about several conversations in which the former president said the Nazi leader did “some good things” besides inspiring loyalty within the military and rebuilding the economy.

Mr. Kelly asked about Mr. Trump’s comments and said he told his then-boss that he could not say such things.

Biden-Harris 2024 Immediate Response Senior Press Secretary Sarafina Tsitsica said she thinks the campaign speaks for the “vast majority” of people who say Hitler didn’t do much.

“Donald Trump’s praise of Hitler is shameful, but he parroted Nazi rhetoric during his election hearing, called his political opponents ‘vermin,’ and is proud of his support for dictators and authoritarians like Vladimir Putin, Viktor Orbán, and Kim Jong Un. This is not surprising at all considering this man who has been drawn to the world. And the rest of the gang,” Chitika said in a statement.

President Trump met with Orbán at his Mar-a-Lago mansion last Friday. The Hungarian leader told President Trump to “keep fighting” ahead of his scheduled arraignment on Tuesday and said he wanted to see him return to the White House.

The Biden campaign said: “With the pardon of a man convicted of undermining democracy, attacking the LGBTQ community, leading Europe’s most corrupt country, and now covering up child sexual abuse. He is the same Viktor Orbán who is mired in scandal,” the Biden campaign said. said in a statement.

The camp also received a “beautiful letter” from North Korean leader Kim, calling Chinese President Xi Jinping a “king” and instructing Putin to “do whatever you want” to the United States. He also criticized President Trump for his relationships with other world leaders. Allies.

“If Donald Trump talks like a dictator, praises dictators, and says he wants to be one, then maybe we should believe him,” Titica said in a statement.
