Joe Biden has canceled 10 trips since dropping out of the presidential race.
Biden is currently “self-isolating” in Delaware after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
President Joe Biden has reportedly canceled nearly a dozen trips after announcing on Sunday that he was dropping out of the presidential race.
A White House source told the New York Post that Biden has canceled nine upcoming trips, adding that the cancellations began “when he announced he would not seek reelection.” This comes after Biden announced on Sunday that he was withdrawing from the presidential race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Biden, who was recently diagnosed with COVID-19, is “self-isolating” in Rehoboth, Delaware.
Sources told the outlet that Biden was scheduled to leave Delaware on Monday and visit California, Denver, Colorado, and Houston and Austin, Texas.
He extended his stay until Wednesday.
Biden, who has been in quarantine due to COVID-19, had been scheduled to leave his home in Rehoboth, Delaware, on Monday but extended his stay until Wednesday after announcing the end of his campaign tour the night before.
No source has given any reason why the White House canceled the trip.
Biden’s illness is not directly related to the decision, and the president’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, said Monday that Biden has largely recovered from the illness.
“They started cancelling plans once Trump announced he wasn’t seeking reelection,” the source said, adding that the trip was a mix of campaign activity and an official presidential visit.
