Biden Ceasefire Announcement Is Cave to Left, to Help in MI Primary

On CNN’s “The Source” broadcast Monday, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) responded to President Joe Biden’s announcement that he wants a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas by next week, saying, “This is… I don’t think it’s a coincidence.” It’s the Monday before Michigan’s primary, a sign that the president is listening to the coalition. ” And he said, “All the activists and progressives are saying this war needs to end, and I applaud the many progressives who are speaking out. I think you heard, and now you’re saying to Jake Sullivan, let’s end the war, let’s make a truce with America.” Release all the hostages. ”

“I appreciate the president’s words. It’s big news. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it’s the Monday before the Michigan primary, but it shows that the president is listening to the coalition,” Khanna said. I commend Mayor Hammoud and Dearborn for their work, and I commend Michigan’s Majority Leader, State Representative Abe Ayyash (D-MI), for calling this war to end. I applaud all the activists and progressives who are doing this, and a lot of progressives, who are speaking out.The president heard that message and is now saying to Jake Sullivan, “Let’s get it done, free all the hostages.” I think he’s saying, “Let’s have a ceasefire.” ”

He then added: “We are encouraged by the president’s statement today of a permanent ceasefire, or a ceasefire and the release of all hostages.” This is one of the arguments I actually had in Michigan about why I would vote for President Biden if I were a Michigan voter. Because at least President Biden, in contrast to Donald Trump, is willing to listen to the Democratic coalition. ”
