Biden Ceasefire Plan ‘Virtually Identical’ to Hamas Proposals

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters on Monday that the proposal presented by President Joe Biden on Friday was “substantially identical” to one put forward by Hamas terrorists in recent weeks.

Miller said Hamas should accept the agreement because the three-point plan is “substantially identical” and “nearly identical” to Hamas’ own proposal.

As Breitbart News reported last Friday, Biden proposed a three-part agreement and billed it as a “road map” for Israel, but curiously, the deal barely mentioned Hamas, did not call for the terror group to disarm, and said Israel would withdraw from Gaza before all the hostages were released.

Biden also said some parties within the Israeli government, which is said to have proposed the deal, reject it, and warned that a “total victory” over Hamas is impossible.

Hamas leaders welcomed the agreement but have yet to formally accept it.

The agreement is similar to a Hamas proposal, but Hamas has rejected any plan that does not come with a clear written commitment guaranteed by the United States that Israel will end the war without destroying Hamas.

Hours after Biden’s speech, it became clear that the proposal did not in fact come from the Israeli government. Right-wing parties threatened to leave the government and force new elections if the proposal was accepted, while left-wing protesters demanded that the proposal be accepted.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu avoided explicitly accusing Biden of lying, but said the deal Biden offered was “partial” and that Israel would not accept any deal that would prevent the destruction of Hamas’ military and governing capabilities.

By Monday, it seemed clear that Biden was misleading the world to draw Israel into a deal to appease Hamas. He may also have hoped to create instability in Netanyahu’s coalition government.

Still, Miller continued to insist, “This is a proposal from the Israeli government.”

Miller seemed stumped when asked by reporters what would happen if Hamas rejected the deal, saying he didn’t want to talk hypotheticals but that Hamas would have to “explain” such a decision to the world.
