CLAIM: President Joe Biden repeated a now-denied claim that former President Donald Trump called men and women who serve in the military “morons” and “losers.”

During Thursday’s presidential debate, Biden claimed Trump had called veterans “morons” and “losers.”
“I recently went to France for the Normandy landings and spoke to all of the heroes who died. I even went to the World War I cemetery that he refused to go to,” Biden said. Said“He was standing there with a four-star general and he told me, ‘I don’t want to go there because they’re all losers and idiots.’

of Story from Atlantic Ocean In September 2020, Trump refused to visit the Aisne-Marne American Military Cemetery in France, allegedly telling a senior staff member, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s full of losers.”
Trump declined to visit because he was afraid the rain would mess up his hair and because he didn’t think it was important to honor America’s war dead, according to four people with direct knowledge of the discussions. “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s full of losers,” Trump said in a conversation with senior staff on the morning of his planned visit. In another conversation during the same visit, Trump called the more than 1,800 Marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood “murdered fools.”
After the story was published, Trump criticized the magazine, saying it was an “embarrassment for the magazine” to claim to “speak negatively of our troops and our fallen heroes.”
Nevertheless, both Biden and former President Barack Obama repeated the false claim.
