Biden district Republican says this critical issue will define 2024 elections

House Republicans representing districts that President Biden won by a margin of more than 6 points have insisted that “security” will be the deciding factor in a similar election campaign to be held across the United States in November. .

“It’s irrational that voters don’t want to be safe,” California Republican Rep. Mike Garcia said in an interview on Fox News Digital.

Garcia is the only Republican representing part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area in the House. He is one of 17 House Republicans in districts won by Biden in 2020, making him a key target for Democrats seeking to retake the chamber.

He argued that security in all its forms – foreign, domestic and economic – will drive voters’ decisions in November.

Garcia represents California’s 27th Congressional District, which includes parts of northern Los Angeles County, including Santa Clarita and parts of the San Fernando Valley. It is also a majority non-white district, with Hispanic Americans and Latinos making up the largest percentage of the population.

“For me, the word safety is the theme of this election. And when you have that, you have power, right? Knowing that in my district, one-third are Hispanic, I think 75% of them are registered Democrats. But they don’t like weakness and they don’t like America looking weak on the world stage,” Garcia said. Ta.

Biden faces tough battle in key battleground states as Democratic lead in negative votes: polls

“They don’t like the fact that President Biden doesn’t know what he’s doing compared to the presidents of Russia and China. They value power, so evaluating law enforcement is I think it’s important to focus on border security and economic security, to stop out-of-control spending, to cut taxes, to focus on neighborhood safety by putting more police on the streets…these are very… This is a common point.”

He said voters, especially in Los Angeles, are tired of calls from the left to defund progressive law enforcement and police departments that enact policies seen as being soft on crime.

“We’re emphasizing the difference between Republican and Democratic elected officials, not voters, because when you talk to the average Democratic voter on the street, especially in my district, , because it’s one of the most densely populated areas in terms of current law and retirement law, “police, firefighters, first responders, and the fact is, a lot of these people are Democrats,” Garcia said. Told.

“Democratic voters actually care about security. And they see this as defunding the police movement as a product of the far-left faction of the Democratic Party. They don’t appreciate that. .”

“They have leadership, they have laws, and they have crazy people around them who are literally killing them. That’s the police,” Garcia said. “They’re not getting reinforcements. They’re working overtime as much as normal hours. So if you look at that, and you look at the elected officials who are supposed to protect you, it makes sense. Standing with you… Most elected officials have taken a knee and defunded the police movement out of fear of the protesters. ”
