Biden facing abysmal approval rating on immigration

As Americans across the country watch the border crisis worsen in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, President Biden continues to suffer from dire approval ratings over his handling of immigration.

A new Monmouth University poll released Tuesday found that just 26% of Americans say they approve of Biden’s handling of immigration, while a whopping 76% disapprove.

By party affiliation, just over half (54%) of Democrats said they supported Biden’s handling of immigration issues, while 21% of independents and 2% of Republicans said the same. I stayed there.

The poll also found that only 38% of people approve of Biden’s overall performance as president, while 58% disapprove. Vice President Kamala Harris’ numbers were similar, with a 35% approval rating and 58% disapproval.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed last month that it had a record 302,000 encounters with migrants at the southern border in December, breaking the monthly record set in September. This is the first time that the number has exceeded the 300,000 mark.

This staggering number is enough to fill the Super Bowl in Las Vegas more than four and a half times, and roughly equals the total population of Cincinnati, Ohio. Approximately 250,000 of the encounters occurred between ports of entry.

These numbers are the latest to come from the southern border since the crisis exploded in 2021. Following a record-setting FY22, more than 2.4 million migrants were encountered in FY23.
