USCIS Director Discusses Immigration Under Biden

Joseph Edlow, the director of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), expressed concerns to Breitbart News regarding the prioritization of illegal immigration under former President Joe Biden. He described the current state of the legal immigration system as being in “complete and total disruption.”

In an exclusive interview, Edlow reflected on the policies during the Biden administration, which, according to him, favored enrolling individuals through illegal means over those who have been waiting patiently for years to secure a green card.

He commented, “The impacts and consequences of the past four years have left our legal immigration system utterly disrupted.” He further noted, “Too many valid cases are pending, with legitimate applicants waiting indefinitely. Those are the people we want—people America truly needs.”

Edlow also revealed some troubling practices, indicating that some immigrants exploited dead individuals as sponsors to navigate the immigration system via Biden’s parole program.

Breitbart News had reported previously that the parole pipeline faced issues of fraud, leading the Department of Homeland Security to temporarily halt it. Some immigrants allegedly shared a single fictitious address in a non-existent zip code to facilitate their entry into the country.

“We’ve uncovered significant issues, and we’re fortunate that our administration has provided us the means to restore integrity,” Edlow stated.

He criticized what he perceived as the administration’s aim to increase the number of illegal immigrants in the country. However, he suggested that this objective was viewed unfavorably by the public, leading the administration to use the parole system to obscure the actual figures of those entering.

Edlow remarked that, under Biden’s direction, there’s been a tendency to misrepresent border crossing statistics, despite knowing the reality of the situation. He accused major media outlets of echoing these claims, citing a July 2024 article from the New York Times, which suggested that Biden had successfully managed border numbers for political gain.

By mid-2024, the parole program reportedly facilitated the arrival of 1.2 million immigrants into the United States via commercial means.

Edlow described the current predicament as a “giant knot” that needs to be unraveled, emphasizing that USCIS personnel are striving for accuracy in their assessments of immigration applications. “Our goal isn’t necessarily a simple ‘yes,'” he noted. “We want to arrive at the correct conclusion based on the available facts.”
