President Joe Biden delivered the biggest speech of his life Thursday night, belting out what was essentially a Democratic convention speech disguised as the State of the Union. The speech was carefully timed after Super Tuesday to frame the presidential election as a “progressive future against recession.” The forerunner of hatred and revenge.
Here are some good and bad points about the speech.
What went right from the Biden camp’s perspective —
1. This speech rallied the Democratic base with a series of Democratic red meat proposals.
The president has proposed nearly every policy, including increasing Pell grants, increasing prescription drug benefits, banning assault rifles, and taxing the wealthy and big corporations, all while stressing that unions are the backbone of American workers. admitted that. Democrats were stamping their feet and cheering, and this speech was designed to get that reaction by shouting “four more years.”
Biden attacks ‘predecessor’ Trump, Republican in partisan speech
2. Biden aimed to vote among suburban women.
The president hit back hard on reproductive freedom, bashing the Supreme Court justices sitting on the House floor during Roe v. Wade, and wisely brought up the emerging issue of in vitro fertilization.
He then announced a women’s health initiative launched by First Lady Jill Biden. She said he appealed to the political power of women, who are the swing votes he needs and are likely the ones Trump will have the hardest time gaining. Republicans know that, too, as they tapped Alabama Sen. Katie Britt to deliver her rebuttal speech.
3. Biden displayed energy despite often stumbling during his speech.
Overall, the president had good control over his thoughts, consistently attacked his opponents, and appeared forceful, even excited. Contrary to the findings of the Herr report, which painted him as fragrant and forgetful, he acknowledged his friends, responded to Republicans, and appeared largely in command and control. Republicans are now calling Biden “angry” and not a happy warrior, but when it comes to the issue of his age, this speech was a victory for Biden.
Biden criticizes Trump multiple times in State of the Union address
There were three problems:
1. Class warfare and partisanship prevailed, and speeches had little to appeal to the other side.
The State of the Union typically draws a wide audience and engages the other side to find common ground on big issues. Early in his speech on January 6, Biden repeatedly attacked former President Trump, drawing sharp contrasts. Even the Supreme Court was roundly criticized for violating the concept that the point of the speech is to unite all branches and all political parties.
The only time everyone in the chamber applauded was when Hamas promised to return American hostages still held in Gaza. Of course, this was by design and not by chance. What does this tell us? We can predict that the Biden campaign’s strategy going forward will basically be to do everything in its power to maximize voter turnout.
2. Our alliance is perfect
That was the message of this speech, that most voters think this country is going in the wrong direction, that they are suffering from inflation, that they are angry about open borders and high crime rates. It was unreal considering what I thought was going on.
It is in this worldview that 10.4 million immigrants cross the border, even though the administration has denied there was a problem at the border for three years, yet Republicans failed to pass a bipartisan Senate bill. It is the responsibility of
3. The economy is strong, inflation is low, and child poverty is decreasing.
This is a huge departure from what voters think and feel, but despite denying any problems and having the lowest approval ratings of any incumbent, Biden has become the most successful president in history. It is a consistent strategy that claims to be one of the records.

On Thursday night, Israel, which was focused on aiding Gaza, was crushed under a bus. Although he urged Congress to support aid to Ukraine, he never asked Congress to pass military aid for Israel and its people. Somehow the US will build a temporary port to get aid to Gaza without setting foot on the ground. This is a dangerous move backed by Israel. This is because it puts America on the front lines of delivering aid, much of which is often stolen by Hamas anyway.
It’s clear that Middle East politics and the threat from Michigan are having an impact since Biden lumped Israel and Ukraine together as dual examples of fighting evil just a few months ago. Not on a Thursday night.
When I worked on the State of the Union address with President Clinton, the goal was to unite the country and attract swing voters because bipartisan audiences are rare.
One of the rules was not to use words or slogans that you would use in a political speech, because this is history, not politics.

The thinking heading into the election season was to the contrary, and the White House achieved its goal by announcing an aggressive campaign by Joe Biden to counter both Trump and the Republican Party based on the values of “honesty, decency.” It has shown that it is ready to launch a campaign. . Dignity. Equality.”
Polls over the next week or so will tell whether he has been unable to connect with ordinary Americans on the issues or whether he has succeeded in rallying enough of his base to mount a counterattack.
