Biden Guided by Instructions to ‘Walk to Podium’ During Events

White House staff have reportedly prepared a document with photos and instructions for President Joe Biden to “walk” up to the podium during events.

One template for a five-page document is Axiosdisplays “large photos of the event space” on various pages and the words “view from the podium” and “view from the audience” in “large letters.”

According to the media outlet, the document also includes two photos with the words “heading to the podium” written on them.

A staff member who reportedly attended presidential events over the past year and a half told reporters that the White House “treated” what was “just a fundraiser at a private residence” as if it were a “NATO summit.”

“I was a staff member at a simple fundraising event at a private home, but his actions were treated like a NATO summit,” a source told the outlet.

Prior to a presidential event, the White House sends event staff documents to refer to when preparing materials for the president.

An unnamed staff member told media they were “surprised that a seasoned political professional like the president would need detailed instructions on how to enter and exit the room,” while an unnamed White House official explained that this was a “common reaction” from people who are “not used to seeing the advance guards at work.”

Georgetown University Institute of Politics and Public Service explain Advance team is “a term used to describe the team of people in charge of the logistics and running of any high-level event, usually for a political campaign or action.”

According to the outlet, political preparation has been “intensive and detail-oriented” for previous US presidents.

White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told the outlet that the pre-election work involves a “high level of detail and precision”, regardless of who the current president is.

Several people on social media pointed out that this was unusual, while others noted that it was “common” in preliminary work.
