According to a recent congressional report, the Biden-Harris Administration’s Department of Homeland Security has released at least 99 people on terrorism watch lists into the United States.
The House Judiciary Committee report The report released Monday stated that Border Patrol agents stationed on the southern border encountered 250 illegal immigrants on terrorism watch lists between fiscal years 2021 and 2023. According to the committee, the Department of Homeland Security has recently informed Congress that it has released at least 99 people on terrorism watch lists back to the U.S. The Department of Homeland Security reportedly said another 34 are in federal custody but have not yet been deported.
“A serious and potentially dangerous defect.”
According to Customs and Border Protection, the terrorism suspects encountered by Border Patrol agents were nationals of a number of countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
According to the report, immigration judges granted bail to at least 27 terrorism suspects and asylum to four between fiscal years 2021 and 2023.
The committee’s report states, “The open border policies of President Joe Biden and his border control chief, Vice President Kamala Harris, have allowed millions of illegal immigrants to enter the United States, including terrorist organizations and other miscreants seeking to harm Americans. In three and a half years, the Biden-Harris Administration has released more than 5.4 million illegal immigrants into the United States, and at least 1.9 million additional ‘fugitives’ are known to have fled to the United States.”
“The more than 7.3 million illegal immigrants include 375 illegal immigrants on the U.S. government’s terrorist watch list who were apprehended by Border Patrol under President Biden and Vice President Harris’ supervision. This represents more than a 3,000 percent increase in encounters with aliens on watch lists compared to the entire four years of the Trump administration,” the report added.
The committee said the Biden-Harris administration “[ing]He warned that open borders pose a national security threat, noting that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has insisted that illegal immigrants are thoroughly vetted before being released into the country.
In June, Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested eight Tajik nationals with possible terrorist ties, three of whom had already been released after scheduling appointments through the agency’s CBP One app.
Mayorkas said the app would allow federal authorities to “screen and vet” individuals before they arrive at the border.
“However, the Department of Homeland Security’s continued use of terrorist watch lists to send illegal immigrants into the country reflects serious and potentially dangerous flaws in the open borders policy,” the report added.
