Democrats continue to use extreme rhetoric as new reports emerge of an assassination plot against former President Donald Trump.
The remarks were made by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, 53, during an interview on MSNBC, where host Mika Brzezinski asked her to respond to Trump's comments about being a protector of women.
“She just advertised a bounty on him.”
“I don't know how I got here, but I need to get out. [Vice President] Kamala [Harris] At the White House,” Raimondo responded.
She also said Trump's comments were “infuriating,” “horrifying” and “degrading” to women.
“This is another lie! How did this happen? Let's eliminate him for good,” Raimondo added. “We know the answers. We have a candidate who is extremely talented, honest, realistic and open. Let's just get it done.”
Brzezinski must have realized that Raimondo's phrasing would be controversial, because she asked him to explain in more detail what he meant.
“Let's vote him out and get him out of American politics,” Raimondo replied. “Yes, vote him out and he's gone.”
But many on social media slammed Biden campaign officials, including Trump campaign spokesman Steven Chang.
“Sick and Twisted” Chan Responded On the X platform. “She just advertised a bounty on him. She's no different than an Iranian terrorist.”
Chang noted that intelligence officials had warned the former president that the Iranian regime was stepping up efforts to assassinate him, adding that Congress had approved a bipartisan motion to beef up security to protect Trump from further attacks.
Prior to her role in Biden's Cabinet, Raimondo served as governor of Rhode Island from 2015 to 2021.
