On MSNBC’s “Katie Toole Report” on Friday, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) said President Joe Biden’s “staff is pushing him too far to the left.” I don’t think that’s where he should be. I don’t believe he’s in that position internally, never was, and I’d like to see him back in that position. ”
Manchin said he could not endorse former President Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, adding, “On the other hand, I have been asked about my friend Joe Biden, who I have known for a long time.” And I want Joe Biden to be the Joe Biden I’ve known forever. He always wants to advance deals, he always wants to bring people together, and that’s how he campaigned in 2020. I think his staff is taking him too far to the left. I don’t think that’s where he should be. I don’t think he’s in that position internally, never has been, and I’d like to see him get back there. So I’m still working hard and trying to see if I can contribute a little bit to that. ”
Later in the interview, Manchin said he’s “never been a bystander.” So we just have to wait and see. ”
