President Joe Biden did not answer a question about the “end game” of the Ukraine war in an interview published Tuesday, despite having recently escalated U.S. involvement in the conflict.
In an interview timeReporter Asked Biden: “So what’s the end game in Ukraine and what does peace there look like?”
Biden did not answer what he thought the “end game” in Ukraine would be, only what he thought peace would look like. According to a transcript of the interview, he replied:
Peace means that Russia never, never, never, never occupies Ukraine. That’s what peace looks like. And that doesn’t mean NATO. They are part of NATO. It means that we will have the same relationship with them that we have with other countries, and we will supply them with weapons so that they can defend themselves in the future. But as you all note, that’s not the case. I said that I’m not ready to support NATOization of Ukraine, as reported in Time magazine.
Biden’s refusal to answer about the end game of the Ukraine situation comes as he is escalating US involvement in the war.

He recently approved Ukraine has used U.S.-supplied weapons to attack Russian forces inside Russia, who attacked Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv. When a reporter asked if NATO was in danger of sliding into war with Russia, Biden said that would happen “if we don’t take some steps against Ukraine,” but did not specify what those “some steps” were.
Biden also bragged that he released U.S. intelligence about Russia’s plans to invade Ukraine just before Russian forces invaded the country in February 2022, even though that action did not stop the Russian invasion and the Biden administration did little for months while Russian troops massed on Ukraine’s border.
“The reason I authorized the intelligence, and allowed the release of information that I knew he was going to attack, was to let the world know that we were still in control. We still know what’s going on,” Biden said.

So far, the US has spent around $200 billion on the Ukraine war since 2022.
In the interview, Biden acknowledged “serious corruption” in Ukraine but warned that a collapse of Ukraine would also see the collapse of NATO ally Poland, despite Putin having so far stated he has no intention of invading a NATO member state.
“I spent a month in Ukraine when I was a senator and vice president. There was significant corruption there, a very difficult situation. But if you let Ukraine fall apart, mark my words: Poland will fall apart, countries along Russia’s actual borders, including in the Balkans and Belarus, will find their own middle ground,” Biden said.
