On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Friday, White House communications director Ben LaBolt said that while President Joe Biden has delivered “the strongest economic recovery of any place on the planet,” “in 2020, the persuasion power… For some voters, the No. 1 TV show they watched was “The Bachelor,” and “People are busy with their own lives. They don’t watch the news all day.”
asked co-host Joe Scarborough. “Ben, how frustrating is that for you? I’ll tell you personally, you’ve got numbers like this, you’ve got numbers like this, and when you compare them, the numbers are That’s extraordinary.” Not only for our allies in Europe, but also for those in Beijing and Moscow who consider themselves our enemies, and I think that number is an order of magnitude higher than in most other countries around the world. Or? ”
Mr. LaBolt replied: “There is no question that here in the United States we have seen the strongest economic recovery anywhere on earth, and we have been one of the quickest countries to emerge from a very deep and very long recession. There’s no question about it. The president didn’t make the same policy decisions he did when he passed things like the American Rescue Plan. Look, we’ve come out of a difficult period with a pandemic, a global supply chain crisis. Mr. President. started this recovery. But I heard you guys talking about the Obama-Biden reelection in 2012 and how that compares. Well, I was the press secretary for that effort. I was sitting in Chicago And this moment that we’re in now, after having spent a year reconnecting with our constituents across the country, and then starting with the State of the Union address, and remembering that moment where we had a chance to make our voices heard, And for the average person across the country, in 2020, persuasive voters, the number one TV show they watched was “The Bachelor,” right? People are busy in their lives. They don’t watch the news all day. Therefore, we need to be creative in how we reach people. ”
He added, “The president is on the road making his case. In the past two weeks alone, he has visited Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, New Hampshire, Nevada, and Texas. He touts his accomplishments, future plans, such as building semiconductor factories and lowering housing costs. And he sits down with families in Saginaw, Michigan, on sites large and small, to discuss their daily lives. And look, this is going to be a big year. No one here, no one on the campaign trail, is taking anything for granted. Certainly the president is one. He holds multiple events a day and speaks to key constituents. He calls Black Radio multiple times a week. This week he called Spanish Radio. He speaks Spanish Interviewed with the biggest television network in the area. I mean, that’s the pace at which he’s attacking these things.”
