On Wednesday’s broadcast of NewsNation’s “The Hill,” Rep. Wiley Nickels (D-N.C.) said he thinks Joe Biden is qualified to be president, but “there are legitimate questions about whether Joe Biden can do the job. And I want to see him answer those tough questions.” And Biden has barely been seen since the day after the debate.
“I think what he needs to do is get in front of the American people and feel comfortable answering tough questions from reporters, go to places like North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District and talk to Democrats, Republicans and Independents and make sure they know he’s the right person for the job,” Nickel said. “That’s the first thing he needs to do, and he needs to do it immediately.”
Nickel added that he thinks Biden is the right man for the job, but “he needs to go out there and advocate for himself.”
Nickel further stated:[W]We have to do everything we can to stop Donald Trump. I have high hopes that Joe Biden can be up to the task, but the debate was awful. He has to prove to the American people that he can be up to the task. And I think that’s where we are now.”
“Again, one thing that comes back to me over and over is the legitimate question of whether Joe Biden can do the job, and I want to see him answer those tough questions,” he said, adding that he “hasn’t really seen him” since holding a rally in North Carolina the day after the debate.
Nickel concluded that concerns about Biden’s health are “a distraction from what a disaster Donald Trump could wreak.”
