On “The View” on Wednesday, President Joe Biden was asked about his relationship with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who he claimed did not force him to withdraw from his reelection campaign. Biden also confidently said he would have beaten Trump in the next election.

Biden gave a roughly 30-minute interview, his first since the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

“Did you feel coerced? And what is your relationship with Speaker Pelosi now?” co-host Alyssa Farah asked Biden.

“My relationship is good. I've never fully believed the assertion that there's overwhelming resistance to me running again, and I've never felt that way,” Biden said.

“The polls said otherwise for Biden, but the fact is, in my polling, I was always within reach of beating this guy,” Biden continued. “I was confident I could beat Trump. He's a loser.”

However, the president's previous statements contradict the claims made on the show.

“I'm the Democratic nominee,” Biden declared at a campaign rally on July 5 before walking out. “It seems like some people don't care who you voted for. Guess what? They're trying to throw me out of the race. Let me be very clear: I'm going to continue to run.”

“I get so frustrated that the elites in our party know so much more than I do,” Biden said in an interview on July 8. “If there are people out there who don't think I should be running against them, please go ahead and challenge me at the convention.”

Additionally, in a recent interview, Biden was asked to reflect on his decision to withdraw from the campaign trail and end his campaign due to concerns from Democratic Party officials about his age and mental ability to run the country for the next four years.

“I'm comfortable with my decision,” Biden responded. “When I ran last term, I said I thought of myself as a transition president… But the reality is, we were so successful at getting things done that people felt like they couldn't get it done. And I found myself taking longer than usual to pass the baton.”

Biden then changed the subject to discuss Vice President Kamala Harris, describing her as “tough” and “integrity.”

“What I like about her, and what we have in common, is her optimism about the future,” he said.

“As vice president, there was nothing I couldn't do for her,” Biden continued, “so I was able to hand her responsibility for everything from foreign policy to domestic policy.”

“I think she has the energy, she has the intelligence, she has the grit, she has the stamina and she has the guts to do the right thing,” he added.
