“Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death. Why can’t Trump say that?” Biden said.
“President Putin is responsible, and we must stand up to him,” he said, calling on House Republicans to pass the Senate-passed Ukraine funding bill.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) has refused to advance the bill in the full House, and the White House has used the House recess as a political weapon to pass funding for Ukraine. He is attacking the Republican Party, which has gone on vacation.
At a campaign reception in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, the president again criticized Trump for his handling of Navalny’s death.
“Trump hasn’t even been able to condemn him. It’s outrageous,” he told supporters.
The White House is expected to announce major sanctions against Russia on Friday in response to Navalny’s death. It is expected to hold Russia accountable for what happened to the opposition leader and tighten sanctions against Russia since the war began.
