Biden lashes out at Democratic lawmaker questioning his re-election: report

President Biden reportedly blasted Democratic lawmakers in a group call on Saturday, claiming that doubts about the viability of his second term were absurd.

The president reportedly lashed out at Colorado Rep. Jason Crow during the call, telling him that “if we don’t make significant changes, we’re going to lose in November.” NBC News.

“First of all, I think you’re totally wrong on national security,” Biden reportedly told Crow. Report from Puck News“You know what happened in the recent meeting with NATO. I’m the one who put NATO together. Name me one foreign leader who doesn’t think I’m the most effective leader in the world in foreign policy.”

At one point in the transcript, Biden appears to compare Crow to his late son, Beau Biden, noting that Crow was a Bronze Star recipient as an Army Ranger in Iraq.

“Who has done something like my son with the Bronze Star that you’ve never done? I’m proud of your leadership. But guess what’s happening? Korea and Japan are working together. Anyway, I formed the Oaks!” Biden reportedly told Crow.

Crow reportedly hit back at Biden, saying his appeal “is not reaching the voters.”

“We should talk about that!” Biden responded, according to Pack. “There’s no president who’s done a better job on national security than me. Name one. Name one! So I don’t want to hear any of that crap!”

An intraparty debate over plans to renominate Biden as the party’s presidential candidate in 2024 threatens to split the Democratic Party.

Democratic leaders are considering plans to nominate Biden as the candidate as early as next week, ostensibly out of concern that the Democratic National Convention on Aug. 17 would fall after the deadline for polls to close in Ohio.

Democratic lawmakers and candidates across the country are concerned that Biden’s approval ratings have plummeted since his disastrous performance in the first presidential debate, and that this could affect lower-ranked elections.
