Biden likely to maintain same routine, accomplish ‘nothing’ during last months of presidency, insiders say

President Biden’s term in the White House ends in January, but political insiders from both parties believe the remaining six months of his lame-duck term will be much of the same routine and “absolutely nothing” days.

Biden on Sunday suspended his 2024 re-election campaign, saying in a statement that he believed it was “in the best interest of my party and the country for me to step aside and focus on fulfilling the duties of my presidency for the remainder of my term.”

While Biden’s announcement also included his “full support and endorsement” of Vice President Harris to become the party’s presidential nominee, many Americans and political commentators questioned what the job would be like and whether the president would be able to follow through on any meaningful policies or reforms during the remainder of his term.

Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, who represented Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District from 2013 to 2021, said not much will change for Americans in the next six months and argued that Biden has “not been indecisive” on important issues all this time.

“Clearly, President Biden has not had control over our domestic and foreign policy for the last three and a half years,” she said. “The same unelected people who have been running the country with Biden as their nominal leader will continue to run the country as long as Biden is in office, and with Kamala Harris, if elected.”

“The people who actually run the country are unelected power elites from the administrative state, the national security state and the military-industrial complex, working hand in hand with the propaganda media that act as their proxies,” she added. “Their goal is to maintain power at all costs, [they] They have already shown that they are willing to do anything to defeat and destroy [former President] Because Donald Trump is the biggest threat to their power.”

Biden’s unprecedented announcement comes amid growing public calls among Democrats for him to step down, as party leaders reportedly work to convince the 81-year-old president that he cannot win November’s general election against 2024 Republican nominee Trump, whom Biden defeated to win the White House four years ago.

Julian Epstein, a lawyer and former chief counsel for Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, told Fox News Digital that he thinks there’s “almost nothing” Biden can accomplish in the months and days before the inauguration.

“There’s very little Biden can accomplish in the next six months other than maintain the status quo and stall,” he said. “If the White House is wise, it will double down on support for Israel and make clear that Democrats have moral clarity about fighting the Ku Klux Klan on the Mediterranean coast.”

Ned Ryun, CEO and founder of American Majority, agreed with Epstein’s assessment, saying he doesn’t think Biden can accomplish “anything at all” in the shadow of Harris’ presidential campaign.

“First of all, both parties are worried about their own reelection, so they’re not going to want to push the envelope,” Ryan said.[Senate Majority Leader] “Chuck Schumer will never allow clearly problematic legislation to reach the Senate floor, because the Senate is already in a bad place. We don’t need to make it any harder for the Senate to maintain its majority.”

“Biden will be unable to accomplish anything outside of executive orders because he is beyond a lame duck president and should not be in office yet,” he added.

During his time in the White House, Biden has signed 140 executive orders, 196 presidential memoranda, 634 proclamations and 133 notices.

Following the announcement, Biden’s schedule was largely devoid of campaign activities and speeches.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Wednesday that Biden intends to complete his term and “cross the finish line” in January.

“We certainly do not consider ourselves a lame-duck president at this time,” she told reporters in the briefing room. “This president has been incredibly successful, and we’re going to do everything in our power to continue to fight for the American people.”
