The Biden administration plans to grant legal status to hundreds of thousands of immigrants who have been in the country for at least 10 years.

Administration officials expect the measures to be announced as early as next week. An estimated 1.1 million undocumented immigrants would be affected by the new policy.

The program is designed to provide deportation protections to undocumented immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens and have been in the U.S. for at least 10 years.

The move comes as voters grow increasingly frustrated with Biden’s border management.

Political analysts say the move could help Republicans win over more Hispanic voters.
