Biden spent much of his speech attacking his predecessor and 2024 Republican nominee, who holds a significant lead in the Republican presidential primary.

“By trying to rewrite the facts of January 6th, Trump is trying to steal history in the same way he tried to steal the election,” Biden said. “But he knew the truth because we saw it with our own eyes.”

“The mob was not a peaceful protest. It was a violent assault,” Biden said, referring to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

“These were insurrectionists, not patriots,” Biden said. “I say what Donald Trump won't say: Political violence is never, ever acceptable to America… never, never, ever.”

He added: “There's no place for that in a democracy. There isn't. You can't be an insurrectionist or pro-American.”

Mr. Biden spent much of his speech linking Mr. Trump to the Capitol riot.

Mr. Biden said that in 2024, “democracy is on the ballot” and “freedom is on the ballot,” and said the opposite of democracy is “dictatorship.”

“Let's be clear about the 2020 election: Trump exhausted every legal means available to him to overturn the election — all of them — but legal means only forced Trump back to the truth. .I mean, I won the election, and he was the president, “the loser,'' Biden said.

“I've said that if I lose, I won't respect the election results,” Biden said.

But in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital after Biden's speech, Trump said Democrats were “trying” to rig the election “again.”

He added: “Joe Biden is a real threat to our democracy because of his gross incompetence.”
