Biden Needs to Push Senate on Sanctioning Iranian Oil

On Tuesday’s broadcast of FOX News Channel’s “America Report,” Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) urged President Joe Biden to finally enact legislation in the Senate to crack down on Iranian oil sales to China. He urged them to do so.

Mr Lawler said: [relevant remarks begin around 1:40] “Look, for me, I think we are in the most unstable situation since World War II, and the unholy alliance between China, Russia, and Iran has been fully exposed. China is the biggest producer of Iranian oil. The illegal sale of Iranian oil has been a source of funding for Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and other terrorist organizations (including the one that claimed the lives of three military personnel) since October 7. , there have been more than 150 attacks on U.S. military bases and personnel. The administration needs to take serious and tough action against Iran, including passing legislation and signing it into law in the Senate. The House passed the bill shortly after October 7th, but the Senate refused to pass the bill. They need to act, and we urge the administration to move forward with this bill. We need to crack down on the illicit finance that funds terrorism, including the attack that just claimed the lives of three military personnel. We need a military response, and we also need a diplomatic response. We need it, but we need to cut off that funding first.”
