Biden not the only one with low energy: Anti-Israel protest outside debate fails to make any impact

Atlanta, Georgia — A few weeks ago, far-left networks in Atlanta and its suburbs rallied outside the CNN presidential debate, urging people to “cancel” the event to protest Israel’s war efforts against Hamas, but when it came time to send troops on the ground, there were so few people that the protesters decided not to take direct action against the police.

“Rallying to Resist the First Biden-Trump Debate, Stop Cop City and the Palestine Solidarity Movement call for joint action to stop the travesty of the 2024 Presidential Debates starting in Atlanta.” 1 post X reading it ahead of the protest.

“We have no power to silence the debate.”

Perhaps because of a lack of central planning or because roads around Turner Entertainment Networks were closed, the protest split into two main groups, each with fewer than 150 people. At one group outside the Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Midtown, protesters simply listened to the speeches; there was no march, and police kept this small group away from an even smaller group of Biden supporters who had lined up to welcome Biden to the venue.

At the moment Biden arrived, the crowd was focused on the speech, allowing him to pass by without protesters heckling and jeering.

Protesters equated “Fascist Trump” and “Genocide Joe” as part of the same problem. They say the current system of government cannot be fixed by voting.

Down the street, a second group of protesters had gathered in a small park. There was clearly no detailed planning, and shortly after the speeches began, the sun had set, making it difficult for protesters to see each other clearly; the park had no major lighting.

At the end of the speech, one of the speakers acknowledged that there were not enough people to properly clash with police, according to the video. News 2 Share.

“With the current terrain and our capabilities, we don’t have the power to do what we want to do. We don’t have the power to end the debate. We don’t have the power to have a large, meaningful confrontation with police on these streets,” the person said, speaking from the darkness. “We don’t want to get into a situation where we’re completely drunk.” [up] Just to be in the news. Why would you do that?”

Although turnout was low Thursday, protesters promised that anti-Israel protesters would turn out in large numbers at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

The fact that Trump and Biden’s co-location in cities that have seen recent far-left violence has failed to draw large numbers of protesters may indicate that the movement is losing momentum after months of constant activism. The only way to dispel this notion is to follow through on their promises to march and cause mayhem at both party conventions.
