President Joe Biden has quietly allowed hundreds of thousands of “paroled” migrants to fly directly into the U.S. from safe, prosperous countries and vacation spots for “humanitarian” reasons.
Biden has argued that the flight program spares migrants from dangerous journeys through Central America and Mexico trying to enter the United States illegally, hence the “humanitarian” argument for the program. Under his program, migrants can fly from wealthy countries and luxury resort islands into American communities, taking American jobs.
“This data is evidence that the parole system is not being used to help aliens escape safely, but rather as a secondary immigration system not authorized by Congress,” said Elizabeth Jacobs of the Center for Migration Studies. “The Biden administration is likely paroling aliens who are already ‘well settled’ in safe and orderly countries, yet still receiving benefits under the guise of urgent humanitarian reasons or vital public interest,” Jacobs said.
This program Chinefu The Economic Immigration Act, meaning Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans, allowed more than 460,000 economic immigrants to live and work in the United States.
Some migrants fly in directly from poor or authoritarian countries, but many come from safe, secure countries. List of countries The countries Biden has designated for processing include Australia, Canada, Israel, Brazil, Finland, Greece, France, the UK, Germany, Iceland, Italy (in fact most countries in Europe), Taiwan, Japan and the UAE.
The list also includes vacation paradise spots such as the Bahamas, Fiji, the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands.
“If they’re from anywhere other than Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua or Venezuela, they’re simply moving up from their third country of origin,” said Andrew Arthur of the Center for Migration Studies. “This literally has nothing to do with asylum claims or anything else.”
To be sure, the list includes countries with uneven human rights records, including the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti and Turkey.
Migrants from safe, prosperous countries are crossing into the U.S. under the Biden administration. Advance travel authorization The program allows immigrants of Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan descent to automatically receive legal status in the United States when they file formal asylum claims and their cases are heard in immigration court, which often take years.
But the parole system is used to import a lot of cheap, hard-working labor at wages that would otherwise go to many young Americans.
