President Joe Biden has made only one appearance in East Palestine, Ohio, a year after a devastating train derailment shook the community, but “because it’s an election year,” local business owner D.J.・Yokeley pointed out.
“I think the bottom line is that the American people have woken up to the realization that our leaders did not show up for the greatest catastrophe of 2023,” he said during an appearance on Fox News.
“And this is an election year, so he’s going to show up…President Trump came and supported us when we didn’t need him. I think we saw that from the beginning.” he continued.
And don’t make it political. Because I support any president who serves his country. Otherwise, again, as I said on the show before, it’s like rooting for your favorite team’s quarterback just to see the backup. It’s a scenario where we know what he’s doing.
“The American people saw that and now they’re saying, ‘We have to visit East Palestine, we haven’t been there yet, so we have to put it on the books,'” the executive added.

Yokeley’s remarks came as Biden finally visited communities affected by the Feb. 3, 2023, train derailment that released toxic chemicals into the community. In contrast, former President Donald Trump immediately visited communities and residents shortly after the incident, delivering truckloads of water.

Months after the disaster, Breitbart News interviewed John Rourke of Blue Line Moving, the company that delivered water to President Trump in East Palestine, who said residents were worried that Biden was completely ignoring them. He explained that he was still seeking help. But then Trump showed up.
“You’ve seen people lined up in the streets. For five or 10 minutes as he drives by, it’s like they forgot something was going on in their town, and people were like, ‘ “USA,” he said. “When I think about it now, I get goosebumps.”

In August 2023, Biden said he had “never had the opportunity” to visit East Palestine. The month before, Biden flew over the community on his way to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for an event promoting “Bidenomics.”
On Wednesday, Donald Trump Jr. added that it was “disgusting” for Biden to appear in East Palestine a year after a devastating train derailment shook the community.
“Biden didn’t show up when the patriots of East Palestine actually needed him. How can he still show his face just to be photographed for a presidential campaign, a whole year later?” , I’m sick of it!!!” he exclaimed.

President Trump also mentioned Biden’s year-end visit.
“With the world exploding around us and the Middle East on fire, Biden has finally decided to visit East Palestine, Ohio, a year late. “It was just to gain political credibility because everything that happened was so bad,” Trump said.
“I know those great people, I’ve been there when it mattered, and his welcome could not have been warmer. Worst president ever!” He added:
