Biden panned for not being certain about whether he watched the debate: ‘He doesn’t know???’

President Biden was slammed on social media after saying during an ABC News interview that he wasn’t sure whether he had watched his own performance in last week’s presidential debate.

In a preview of “World News Tonight” aired on Friday, ABC News host George Stephanopoulos pressed Biden on whether he understood how badly he performed in the race against former President Trump.

“Did you watch the debate afterwards?” Stephanopoulos asked.

Biden was silent for a moment, then replied, “No, I don’t think I did.”

Word of the exchange quickly spread.

“Biden looks and sounds awful in the footage @ABC aired at 6:30pm. So bad. He can’t even remember if he watched the debate afterwards. Holy crap,” CNN contributor Scott Jennings responded.

“In the excerpts aired by ABC, Biden still sounded unwell and confused — maybe not as bad as he did eight days ago, but certainly not in an ‘I’m OK’ sort of way,” wrote journalist Josh Barro.

“The debate was a week ago and he can’t remember if he watched the replay,” New York Post columnist Miranda Devine wrote.

“If Biden himself isn’t watching the debate, how does he know exactly what other Democrats and voters are watching?” CBS News reporter Katherine Watson asked.

“It was pretty memorable for people who watched it,” said FOX 11 LA anchor Elex Michaelson.

“Oh man, that’s tough,” progressive personality Emma Vigeland responded.

“Doesn’t he know???” exclaimed Washington Post columnist Marc Thiessen.

Biden insisted his dismal performance in last month’s debate with Trump was simply a “bad episode” or a “bad night” rather than a sign of anything more serious, and suggested he bore the blame.

“It was a terrible event,” Biden told Stephanopoulos. “There were no indications of anything serious. I was exhausted. I didn’t follow my instincts in terms of preparation. It was a terrible night.”
