Biden rejects calls to resign at Detroit rally amid cheers of ‘Don’t you quit’

President Biden made it clear at a rally in Michigan on Friday that he intends to remain in the 2024 election.

Speaking to more than 2,000 Democratic attendees in Detroit, Biden characterized himself as a defender of the people who are under siege by Washington, D.C., elites.

“I am this party’s nominee because 14 million Democrats like you voted for me in the primary,” Biden told the crowd.

He added, “You made me your candidate, and no one else. Not the media, not the pundits, not the insiders, not the donors, but you, the voters. You made the decision, and no one else. So I’m not going anywhere.”

The Detroit crowd cheered in unison in support of Biden, chanting “Don’t give up” and “We support you” multiple times.

Democrats are on edge as they head into August when they will hold a national convention to endorse the party’s nominees.

Biden has said multiple times that he will not withdraw his nomination, but he continues to face pressure from members of his party to consider withdrawing. Races in 2024.

“The president has made it very clear that he is the elected nominee and he’s not going to change that position unless God himself intervenes,” Democratic strategist Mark Penn told Fox News Digital when asked about the current state of Biden’s campaign.

“At the moment, Donald Trump has a clear lead, but it’s nowhere near double digits. This puts the race within reach of a few percent of voters switching to change the outcome, and as events like the debates show, it could very well be a game changer.”

Reports have also emerged that former President Barack Obama was working “behind the scenes” to throw Biden out of the election. Multiple outlets reported on Obama’s alleged efforts Thursday morning, including Politico, which reported that Clooney had given Obama “advance notice” of the guest essay.
