CLAIM: During an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, President Joe Biden repeated the false claim that former President Donald Trump told people to “put bleach in their arms.”
Verdict: False. Trump spoke about experimental ultraviolet (UV) technology and how it is used as a disinfectant, and questioned whether it could potentially be “injected” into the human body.
In an interview with Stephanopoulos on Friday, Biden Claimed He called Trump a “born-in-the-life liar,” noting that Trump has told people to “put bleach in their arms” to “deal with” COVID-19.
“He’s a born liar. As I said, as was pointed out in the debate, he lied 27, 28 times. I don’t know how many times he lied, but it’s over 20,” Biden said. “Talk about how good his economy was, how he kept inflation down. He’s unlike any other president except Hoover, he’s lost more jobs than he created. He’s the guy who told you to put bleach in your arm to deal with COVID. Over a million people have died.”
President Biden: Trump is a born liar. He was accused of lying 28 times during the debate. The only president to have lost more jobs than he created was Herbert Hoover. This is the guy who told us to put bleach on our arms to combat COVID-19. Over a million people have died. He’s… pic.twitter.com/FwIGnVCxiV

As Breitbart News previously reported, White House transcripts showed that Trump never suggested that bleach should be injected into his arm.
According to a White House transcript from the time, Trump said:
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you. So I asked Bill a question that maybe some of you are thinking. You guys are obsessed with that world. I think it’s very interesting. So suppose we shine a very strong light on the body. Whether it’s ultraviolet light or a very strong light, that hasn’t been confirmed yet, but I think you said you were going to test it. And then suppose we take that light into the body, whether through the skin or in some other way. I think you said you were going to test that as well. Interesting.
Deputy Secretary Bryan: We will contact the appropriate people who can.
THE PRESIDENT: Right. And then we look at disinfectants. They can be removed in one minute. One minute. Can you inject them into the body or wash them in and do something like that? Because it gets into the lungs and does a lot of damage to the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. So we need the cooperation of doctors. But it seems interesting.
Asked if he was referring to disinfectant being “injected into people”, Trump explained: “It’s not by injection.”
Trump has never suggested people should be injected with bleach, but several Democrats continue to repeat the false claim.
In December 2021, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claimed that President Trump had told people to “inject themselves with bleach.” Former Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Claimed Trump told people to “drink some Clorox.”
Biden has also repeatedly made the false claim. At a fundraiser in San Francisco in May, he said he wished Trump had injected him with bleach.
