Biden retells yet another story differently than before

Joe Biden changed yet another story detail during a speech in Wisconsin about becoming a Green Bay Packers fan in high school.

The chancellor spoke May 8, 2024, at Gateway Technical College’s iMet Center in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, about Microsoft’s plans to invest more than $3 billion to build an artificial intelligence data center in the state.

In his comments, Biden recalled how his Catholic high school inspired him to become a fan of the NFL team, the Green Bay Packers.

“I went to a Catholic high school in Delaware. I was taught by Priest Norbertine at St. Norbert College…a small town, a small team in Green Bay,” Biden said, to some cheers. Ta.

“Okay, here’s the deal,” Biden continued. “We were the only high school in Delaware that overwhelmingly supported Green Bay.”

The audience laughed, but Biden pressed on.

“I’m not kidding, I’ll tell you why. Every Sunday. Not only did they have a great team then and still do, but the theology professor at the Catholic school I went to was a guy named Riley. And he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers. ”

“He decided to become a priest before that, so he didn’t go, but every time we had a lonely Monday when Green Bay won, we got the last day off of the day.”

It’s unclear whether Biden said Riley was his last name or if he read “last name” from the teleprompter, but the president seemed to have forgotten he had spoken this before, although some details were completely different. .

According to a Wisconsin radio station 620 WTMJBiden told host John Mercure this same story in 2011.

“He found himself talking to a journalist in Wisconsin and started telling an elaborate story about why he was rooting for the Packers,” Mercure recalled.

“Let me tell you one thing: I was taught. I went to an all-boys Catholic school in Claymont, Delaware, and I was taught by an order of priests called the Norbertine,” Biden said. said at the time. “The Norbertine family had a monastery in Depere.”

Biden then named several Packers players from his younger days before continuing.

“Every Sunday, when the Packers won, our principal, Father Justin E. Deeney, would get on the PA system and literally say, ‘Hey, guys, today’s your last period off.’

“He made us all Packers fans. There’s a sentimental place for him in me,” he continued. “And I’m worried that if I don’t root for the Packers, I’ll go to hell. Father Dinney might come back. I can’t go against Father Dinney. If I know I’m doing it.” If you root for someone else, he’ll come out of the grave. ”

There was no mention in the story of a theology professor named Riley or anyone who was drafted into the NFL but chose the priesthood. Rather, it is said that it was the principal who gave the students the day off.

It’s easy to be mistaken if you forget which authority gave the students their free time, but the president specifically said it was the professor who was drafted into the NFL.

After that, I was able to use the internet.

“According to the all-time Green Bay Packers draft pick list, there is no ‘Riley’ or ‘Reilly’ record that fits his story,” one reader wrote. X.

Another user pointed out that there was actually a man named Maurice “Tex” Riley who was drafted by the Packers in 1947.

“Draft of 1947 — Maurice ‘Tex’ Riley — There is no record of him after that…”

However, that Maurice Riley was actually air force major generalnot a clergyman.

This is just one of the president’s many bizarre stories. From the legend of street tough corn pop Although he claims to have attended Delaware State University, the president appears to have forgotten key details of his story.

Remember, Biden has changed his story about having an “epiphany” to approve same-sex marriage at least four times in nearly 50 years.
