President Joe Biden said Friday that “democracy is on the ballot” after Democrats tried to remove his political rival, former President Donald Trump, from the ballots in several states.
If Democratic-controlled states, such as Colorado, Maine and others, are ultimately able to remove Trump from the ballot, voters will no longer be able to decide the presidential election, a direct violation of Democratic-Republican principles. The opposite result is obtained.
Several states faced legal action to keep Trump from voting and prevent voters from deciding the election.
- Oregon (case pending)
- Michigan and Minnesota (Trump remained on the ballot)
- Colorado (judgment deferred)
- Maine (ongoing)
“My fellow Americans, as we begin this election year, let us be clear: Democracy is on the ballot,” Biden said at Valley Forge. “Your freedom depends on your vote.”
Biden spoke near the Revolutionary War site of Valley Forge to observe the Jan. 6 protests. The speech was held a day early because bad weather was forecast for Saturday.
“We have to make a choice! I know myself and I believe I know America. We accept the Constitution,” Biden continued. .
After the speech, First Lady Jill Biden (ed. Ph.D.) hugged Biden behind the microphone. “I understand power,” Biden told the crowd, she said with a laugh.
“Thank you, everyone—” He waved as the microphone went off. Jill Biden ushered him backstage and said:
