Biden says he 'did more for the Palestinian community than anybody'

Asked about U.S. support for Israel, President Biden said he has “done more for the Palestinian community” than anyone else.

In response to a question from Complex’s Speedy Moman, Biden doubled down on his support for Israel and the Palestinian community. In an interview He asks why U.S. support for Israel is “so strong.” The interview was filmed Friday and released Monday on Complex’s “360 with Speedy.”

“Without Israel, every Jew in the world would be in danger. Every Jew in the world would be in danger. So Israel needs to be strong, and Israel needs to make sure that the Jewish people can have their own place after World War II,” Biden told Morman.

“But you don’t have to be Jewish to be a Zionist. Zionism is about whether Israel is a safe haven for Jewish people given their history of persecution,” Biden said, adding that when asked if he considered himself a Zionist, he replied “yes.”

“People don’t know what a Zionist is,” Biden said, after pointing out the things he has done for the Palestinians, including pushing for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip amid months of war.

“By the way, I’m the guy who’s done more for the Palestinian community than anyone else. I’m the guy who released all of our assets. I’m the guy who got Egypt to open their borders and let medicines, food and other goods through,” he said.

“I’ve been a big supporter of the Palestinians, but Hamas is a bunch of thugs,” he later added.

During a debate last month, former President Trump attacked Biden over his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas, with Biden accusing the extremist group of preventing a ceasefire agreement from being reached.

“Israel is the best bet. Let them go, finish the mission. He doesn’t want to do that,” Trump said.

“He’s become like a Palestinian, but, well, don’t like him, because he’s a very bad Palestinian. He’s a weak Palestinian,” Trump added.

“I’ve never heard anything more stupid,” Biden responded.

President Biden announced a three-phase ceasefire agreement in May that would have immediately established a halt to fighting for at least six weeks, but the deal remains stalled as mediators continue to negotiate the terms of the agreement.
