After Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged her loss to President-elect Trump in the 2024 presidential election in a speech on Wednesday, President Biden issued a statement saying that his choice of Harris as his running mate was “the best choice.” It was a “decision''.
Biden said in a written statement that Harris stepped up under “unusual circumstances” to lead a “historic campaign.”

Biden said Harris' campaign is “driven by a strong moral compass and a clear vision for a country that is freer, fairer, and full of more opportunity for all Americans.” “It embodies what is possible.”

Biden said that selecting Harris was the first decision he made after becoming a presidential candidate in 2020.

“This was the best decision I ever made,” Biden said. “Her story represents the best of America's stories. And as she made clear today, I want her to continue writing that story.” There's no doubt about that,” he said.

The statement came shortly after Harris told supporters at her alma mater, Howard University, that she had lost the race to Trump.

“The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, it is not what we fought for, and it is not what we voted for,” Harris said. “But hear me, as long as we never give up, and as long as we keep fighting, the light of America's promise will always burn bright.”

Harris was scheduled to deliver a more upbeat message to her audience on election night Wednesday.
Instead, when Harris took the stage, she looked out at a sea of American flags and a particularly anxious look on her face. On either side of her were 30 American flags.
