In a tense exchange on Friday, CNN’s Casey Hunt pressed Biden campaign co-chair Mitch Landrieu to answer whether Biden would consider dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.
Hunt clashed with Landrieu after a number of media figures, including New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, called on Biden to resign after his performance in Thursday’s debate.
“Do you think Democrats should replace Joe Biden as the leading presidential candidate? [people] Bring up that possibility personally in the conversation,” Hunt asked Landrieu.
“This is a discussion that’s been going on for the last two and a half years,” Landrieu responded. “It’s unlikely to happen.”

“The president may have lost the debate on style, but he won on facts and civility,” Landrieu said.
Hunt also pressed Landrieu to answer whether she felt Democrats had been lied to by Biden’s aides about his ability to be president.
“Do you feel at all misled by Democrats very close to President Biden who are claiming that nothing has changed in the last two years that would affect this individual’s ability to do his job for the next four years?” Hunt asked Landrieu.
“No, not at all,” Landrieu said.
Landrieu acknowledged that Trump didn’t put in a particularly strong performance in the debate against former President Donald Trump.
“[Biden] “He started slow last night,” Landrieu said. “I think last night was a tough time for him, that’s for sure.”

“[Biden’s] “I think he’ll be a candidate,” Landrieu said.
