Biden Should ‘Absolutely Not’ Step Aside

Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that President Joe Biden “absolutely” should not withdraw from the presidential race.

“Your local newspaper, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, has joined the growing list of newspapers calling for Biden to drop out. Senator, do you think President Biden should drop out of this election?” host Kristen Welker asked.

“Oh, absolutely not. They say Sunday mornings are ‘Meet the Press,’ and as a pastor I would say, that’s church time for me. There have been so many Sundays where I wish I’d given a better sermon, but after the sermon is over, it’s my job to embody the message and show up for the people that I serve. Joe Biden has done that his whole life, his whole life as a public servant, and for the last four years he’s shown up for the American people,” Warnock said.

He continued, “The question this morning is not ‘What is Joe Biden going to do?’ It’s who is Donald Trump showing up for other than himself and people like him? I support Joe Biden, and it’s our mission to get him across the finish line in November – not for him, but for the country.”

Warnock added: “When you listen to Donald Trump, you’re bound to conclude that he thinks he’s better than America. But the truth is the opposite: America is better than Donald Trump. Much better.”
