Biden starts radiation treatment for aggressive prostate cancer.

Former President Joe Biden Undergoes Cancer Treatment

Shortly after leaving office, former President Joe Biden began a treatment regimen for advanced prostate cancer, which includes both radiation therapy and hormone therapy. This diagnosis was quite serious, and updates have been shared by his close aide, Kelly Scully.

Scully mentioned, “President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone therapy as part of his treatment plan for prostate cancer.”

The aggressiveness of prostate cancer is typically assessed using the Gleason score, which ranges between 6 and 10. Biden’s cancer is notably severe, with a score of 9, indicating a more aggressive form. Having turned 83 last month, he received his diagnosis in May, a few months after completing his term in office. Reports indicated that the cancer had metastasized, spreading to his bones.

“There is hope that we can beat this,” he stated when first diagnosed. He continued, “It’s not in any organ, it’s there. My bones are strong, and there was no penetration. That’s why I feel good.”

He also mentioned he had started taking pills as part of his treatment. Last month, Biden had a procedure known as “Mohs surgery” to remove a cancerous lesion from his forehead, and prior to that, in 2023, skin cancer cells had been excised from his chest.

Recent updates on social media highlighted that Biden’s radiation treatment is set to continue for about five weeks. It’s a tough battle, certainly, but he seems to maintain a hopeful outlook.
