Biden’s New Phase of Cancer Treatment
Former President Joe Biden is starting a new stage in his treatment, having been diagnosed with prostate cancer back in May.
On Saturday, Biden’s press secretary informed Fox News that he is currently receiving radiation therapy. The spokesperson also noted that he had undergone routine tests prior to this.
“As part of his treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation and hormone therapy,” the spokesperson stated.
Biden, diagnosed four months ago with an “aggressive form” of metastatic prostate cancer, had nodules found in his prostate following some urinary issues. His office announced that while the disease is progressive, it is also hormone-sensitive and might be managed effectively.
Biden, who will turn 83 next month, previously had Mohs surgery on September 4 to remove skin cancer cells, according to his spokesperson.
During his presidency, Biden dealt with skin cancerous lesions. The White House stated that a biopsy in February 2023 confirmed the presence of cancer cells, all of which were successfully removed.
Biden, the oldest serving U.S. president, has emphasized the importance of cancer treatment. He and former First Lady Jill Biden worked to reestablish the Cancer Moonshot initiative, aiming to significantly reduce cancer mortality over the next quarter-century.
Earlier in his life, Biden faced two life-threatening brain aneurysms when he was 45. At that time, doctors indicated a mere 50% chance of survival while he was a senator.
News of Biden’s treatment coincides with reports that former President Donald Trump is in “very good overall health.” A recent memo from the White House detailed Trump’s recent medical evaluation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The physician’s summary stated that Trump “remains in excellent health” and exhibited strong performance across various health indicators.
