Biden to meet with Teamsters members in March as group weighs endorsement

President Biden is scheduled to meet with Teamsters leaders and rank-and-file members next month at the union’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., as the organization considers its endorsement in the presidential election.

Biden will attend a roundtable discussion with Teamsters members on March 12, the union announced in a press release. He will meet with members, the general executive committee and chairman Sean O’Brien.

“We recognize that President Biden’s time is limited and we appreciate that he is prioritizing meeting with the Teamsters. Our rank-and-file members and leaders I am eager to discuss the future of this country and the commitment working people need from our next president,” O’Brien said in a statement.

The Teamsters endorsed Biden in 2020, but have so far refrained from supporting him in 2024.

Biden has frequently boasted that he is the most pro-union president in history, often praising unions as forming the backbone of the U.S. economy. Mr. Biden walked the picket line with striking United Auto Workers union members in September, and the group endorsed Mr. Biden earlier this year.

President Trump is trying to wrest some support from Biden among organized labor, after the UAW president refused to support Biden in 2024, calling him a “narco”・There is a feud with Mr. Fain.

After meeting with Teamsters officials earlier this year, President Trump said “something strange happened” about possible support from the group.
